Essens Renewable Private Limited has secured a major 400 MW solar photovoltaic (PV) project in Rajasthan, marking a significant step forward in the company’s renewable energy expansion strategy in India. The project represents the largest single-location solar installation awarded to the company by a private Independent Power Producer (IPP), highlighting its growing role in India’s clean energy sector.
Major Milestone for Essens Renewable
With the addition of the 400 MW project, Essens Renewable is moving closer to achieving its strategic target of 3 GWp of installed solar capacity. The development strengthens the company’s execution portfolio and demonstrates its capability to deliver large-scale renewable infrastructure with efficiency and reliability.
The company, previously known as RWE Solar India and Belectric Photovoltaic India Pvt Ltd, has been active in India’s solar EPC sector since 2010 and has delivered several utility-scale solar installations across the country.
Project Design and Technology
The upcoming solar plant will be a ground-mounted, fixed-tilt solar PV installation located in Rajasthan. Fixed-tilt systems are widely used in utility-scale solar projects because they provide stable power generation with lower operational complexity compared to tracking systems.
Once operational, the project is expected to significantly increase Essens Renewable’s solar capacity while supporting India’s transition toward cleaner energy sources.
Why Rajasthan is a Solar Power Hub
Rajasthan has become one of the most attractive locations for solar development in India due to:
- High solar irradiation levels
- Large land availability for solar parks
- Strong grid connectivity
- Supportive renewable energy policies
These factors have helped the state attract large-scale solar investments and become a leading solar power producer in the country.
Supporting India’s Clean Energy Goals
India is rapidly expanding its renewable energy capacity as part of its national decarbonisation strategy. Large solar projects like the one secured by Essens Renewable play a crucial role in:
- Increasing renewable energy generation
- Reducing dependence on fossil fuels
- Supporting India’s climate commitments
The 400 MW solar project will contribute to the country’s growing renewable energy mix while reinforcing Essens Renewable’s position in India’s fast-growing solar market.
