BMW Electrifies Its Luxury SUV Line-up with Made-in-America Power

A New Era: iX5 Coming in 2026, iX7 to Follow
Leading the pack is the iX5, an all-electric variant of the much-loved BMW X5, slated to launch in 2026. It will be followed by the iX7, the electric version of the flagship X7 SUV, arriving by 2027. These models will combine BMW’s renowned luxury with the performance and efficiency of next-gen EV technology.

Made in the USA: Spartanburg Plant Gears Up
BMW’s Spartanburg facility, already the brand’s largest production plant globally, is undergoing a transformation to support this electric shift. The automaker has committed over $1.7 billion towards this electrification push—$1 billion to expand manufacturing and another $700 million to build a new high-voltage battery assembly centre in nearby Woodruff, South Carolina.
By 2030, BMW expects at least six fully electric models to roll out from Spartanburg, strengthening its EV offering and ensuring quicker availability to North American customers.
